SaJaDo literally translates to "Way of the Lion", the way of Respect, Honor and Courage. The physical aspects of the art combine TangSooDo Forms/Hyungs, TaeKwonDo striking and kicking techniques, Hapkido (HoSinSool) Self-Defense techniques, Jiu-Jitsu (Ne-Waza) Ground Fighting techniques, Okinawa Kobudo Weaponry, MooKiDo (Korean Weaponry), and Kumdo (Swordsmanship). The mixture of these styles are believed to develop real life skills in a traditional setting but applicable to modern day needs. SaJa Hapkido literally translates to "Lion's Way of Coordinated Power". It is a style of Hapkido which has honor and respect because it's concept goes back to the grass roots of how Hapkido was meant to be, which was simplistic. Hapkido is a graceful art in which the opponent's force is to be redirected against themself. The art of SaJa Hapkido does not focus on what the attacker may do or how they will attack, but how the defender will react regardless of what type of attack. SaJa Hapkido differs from other Hapkido styles because concepts are taught rather than just showing someone 20 or 30 different ways to defend against a same side wrist grab, or choke, etc... Once the student learns the concept, he or she can then apply that concept against 20 or 30 different attacks. Words can not express the beauty and grace of Hapkido, one would have to witness it for themself to determine if this style is for them. Anyone interested in taking SaJa Hapkido may do so by attending our classes at Lion's Den Martial Arts in Creedmoor, North Carolina under the Founder every Wednesday at 8pm. Directions may be found on our Schedules and Locations page of this website. If you would like to become Home Study student or Charter Instructor, you may obtain Individual or Charter Membership.
